Can You See Starlink Satellites From Your House?

Updated 10 June 2026

Yes, you can sometimes see Starlink satellites from your backyard — but timing is everything. Here's what to expect.

The 'Starlink train'

Right after a launch, dozens of Starlink satellites fly in a tight line before spreading out into their final orbits. This 'train' of moving lights is the easiest time to spot them and often surprises people who didn't know what they were looking at.

Best viewing times

The best chance is during the hour or two after sunset or before sunrise. At those times the sky above you is dark, but the satellites high overhead are still catching sunlight, making them briefly visible as steady moving points (they don't blink like aircraft).

Use the Coverage page to plan

Our Coverage page shows which satellites are above your location and where to look. Keep in mind it lists every satellite above the horizon — most are too faint to see with the naked eye. For visibility, combine a recent launch with a dawn or dusk viewing window.
