Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 August 2026
TrackStarlink (https://www.trackstarlink.com) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected when you visit the site, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We do not require you to create an account or submit personal information to use TrackStarlink. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers automatically receive standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit, used only in aggregate to operate and improve the site.
Location data
Some features — the coverage view and the 3D globe — can centre on your position. This uses your browser's built-in location API and only ever runs after you explicitly grant permission through the browser's own prompt.
When you do, your coordinates are used in your browser to compute which satellites are above your horizon. They are not transmitted to us, not written to a server, and not stored. Declining the prompt costs you nothing: you can type a city name instead, and every pass and coverage page works the same way.
What we do not collect
Stated plainly, because the absence of something is easy to miss:
- No accounts, so no names, passwords or profiles
- No payment information — nothing on this site is for sale
- No newsletter or mailing list
- No server-side record of the locations you search for or the satellites you look at
- No sale or sharing of personal data with anyone beyond the service providers listed below
Cookies & advertising
We use Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info/choices. For more on how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps, see Google's policy. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic. Analytics cookies collect information in a way that does not directly identify you. We do not sell your personal data.
Service providers
The site relies on a small number of third parties, each of which receives data as part of doing its job:
- Hosting— serves the site and receives standard request data including IP address and user agent, as any web server does
- Google AdSense— serves advertising and uses cookies and similar technologies as described above
- Google Analytics— measures aggregate traffic patterns
- CelesTrak and public launch databases— supply the orbital and launch data shown on the site. These are data sources we read from; no information about you is sent to them
Data retention
We do not operate a user database, so there is no personal data of yours for us to retain. Server logs and analytics data are held by the respective providers under their own retention policies. Email you send us is kept only as long as needed to deal with it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data held about you — including access, correction, deletion and objection to certain processing. Because we do not maintain user records, most such requests are best directed at the providers listed above, whose policies explain how to make them.
Practical controls available to you right now:
- Opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings, or at aboutads.info/choices, using the links above
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which the site continues to work without
- Deny or revoke location permission in your browser — city search works identically
- Use browser or extension-level tracking protection; nothing here depends on being tracked
Anything else can be raised through the contact page.
Children's privacy
TrackStarlink is a general-audience, informational site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
